After having raced the Missoula Marathon in the last week of June and returning home, I was happy to find that these Brooks Ghost 14 running shoes were among the mail that had arrived while we were out on our summer trip.

Since I had opted-in to test and review these shoes, I literally had no idea how they would fit me, so needless to say I was pleasantly surprised that they fit my foot PERFECTLY, nice and snug the way I like it around the heel cup, but with enough wiggle room in the toe box as well as plenty of padding around the collar for comfort.

Over the following 3 weeks, I used them for a variety of run workouts and distances and noted the following:

Light weight

I feel that they are also very light, much lighter than I thought they'd be, and that's a big factor for me as it helps a lot with leg turnover and cadence. Despite their light weight, the soles feature plenty of grip, which allowed me to easily and confidently maneuver when doing stair workouts or when running on uneven and/or wet surfaces.

Attractive design

Right out of the box, there is no doubt that the Ghost 14 shoes have an attractive and appealing design. I am typically not a big fan of white running shoes, but must admit that these have been the exception. They come in a large variety of color combinations, and more than likely at least one of them will suit your particular style and preference.

Cushioned and responsive

I used these shoes for easy runs, tempos, and fartlek workouts, and found them to be suitable for all. Whether it was going uphill, downhill, or on flat sections of the trails and courses I ran with them, they were responsive and helped me push the pace during the speed blocks and take it easy during recovery.

This is a shoe which can fit and function a variety of run purposes, anything from targeting a shorter distance such as the 5k, all the way to the marathon if not longer. Currently priced at the Brooks website for $129.95 means that it is also priced quite competitively and offers a ton of value for such a quality product.

This, the 14th iteration of the Ghost shoe, is also Brooks' first carbon-neutral shoe. The majority of the textiles used on the upper sections of this shoe contain at least 30% recycled polyester, with many of them being composed in their entirety of that same material. Key components such as the sock liner, tongue lining, toe box reinforcement, and more. So not only do they provide great cushion and responsiveness in our workouts, they're also a great sustainable choice--a win all around.

In conclusion, I have had quite a positive experience with the Brooks Ghost 14 shoes and can easily recommend you consider them the next time you are looking into purchasing running shoes.
