In my opinion, the Built Bars taste AMAZINGLY good. The closest thing I can compare them to in overall taste is an Almond Joy Bar, or a chocolate candy bar with a medium to soft consistency. Literally from the first bite, you just can't believe you are actually eating a nutritious, protein bar. I tried and liked all of their flavors, but the one I liked the most was the Coconut Almond one. That flavor contains a lot of small pieces of coconut and almonds and I like what those ingredients add to the overall consistency of the bar; it makes it a bit more crunchy and less chewy than the other flavors.
With most of the Built Bar flavors, the texture/consistency of the center of the bar is caramel-like and chewy. At first it took me a bit to get used to that chewiness. When I would bite into them, it would take some time to chew that piece into smaller-sized portions in order to properly swallow them. Some small pieces of that caramel-like middle would also stick to my teeth. But I then picked up a tip from a fellow BibRave Pro and started putting the bars in the refrigerator in order to harden them a bit and cut down some of the chewiness, and that definitely helped. I also noticed that if I took smaller bites, it was then easier to chew and eat them, and that even the small pieces that would stick to my teeth would be gone in no time.
In my opinion, the ingredients and nutritional value coupled with the amazing, candy bar-like taste combine to make up the 1-2 winning punch of the Built Bars. Not only are you eating something that is delicious, but you are also getting great nutrition value at the same time and snacking responsibly. You would be hard-pressed to find a better blend of high protein, low sugar, low carb, and low calories on other protein bars in the market.
Not only did these bars taste great, they were also perfectly fine on my stomach. I had no problem at all digesting them, so they often served as either my mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack at work to help satisfy my hunger between meals.
I feel that at a current cost of $38.10 per box of 18 bars these bars are very reasonably priced at $2.10 each, and are either in line with or at a better price point than other protein bars in the market. To make it even better, you can currently get an AWESOME 20% discount on them at www.builtbar.com by using code BUILTNOW at checkout. With that discount, you would pay $1.69 per bar, which is simply outstanding and hard to beat.
Overall, I feel that Built Bars are a high-quality product, made with the right balance of ingredients to not just taste delicious, but also provide great nutritional value. Add that to a great price point, and you've got a winning formula for a protein bar. I know I will definitely be ordering a box soon as I am about to run out of the samples I was sent for this evaluation. Hope you give them a try!
