Top 3 things I'm looking forward to at the Missoula Half

Running the Big 3 Challenge

This year at the Missoula Marathon I will be taking on the Big 3 challenge, which means that I'll be taking on 3 different runs during the weekend: Friday night’s the Beer Run on Friday evening, the Tony Banovich 5k on Saturday morning, and the Half Marathon on Sunday morning. I must admit that even though I have never done a challenge like this, I am super relaxed and look forward to the variety and fun that each one of these different events will be for me and my family. On top of that, there will be a surprise gift/swag item that the race organizers will be providing to participants who complete the challenge, and I'm quite curious to find out what it will be.

Enjoy cooler, favorable weather

After having trained over the last several weeks in the intense heat we're experiencing in south Texas, I'm looking forward to enjoying Missoula's cooler weather for the entire race weekend. The weather, although entirely out of our control, plays a role in both the enjoyment of the race as well as with the hopes of having a strong showing and obtaining good results completing it. The average temperatures in Missoula for the month of June range between 47F and 74F degrees with 65% humidity. So as long as those averages hold up (and that is the current forecast), the weather will be optimal for me. It would make tackling this challenge easier and mirror good results I have experienced in similar conditions.

Meet fellow BibRave Pros

It is always a unique experience to have the opportunity to not only meet but also run a marquee event like the Missoula Marathon with other BibRave Pros. This year there are several of us who will be participating and meeting in Missoula. We generally interact with one another quite a bit on social media, such as during our weekly Twitter BibChats on Tuesday evenings. However, it is not often that we get to meet face-to-face and run together, as we live literally all over the country, so being able to experience this with a few of them will definitely make it a special weekend for me.
