World Refugee Virtual 5k: Help an important cause

Disclaimer: I received registration to the World Refugee Virtual 5k as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro by going to www.bibrave.com/bibravepro. Find race reviews at www.bibrave.com.

A few days ago I registered to complete the Virtual World Refugee Day 5k. When I was offered the opportunity to participate in this event, I literally accepted within just a couple of minutes. Not because I needed to run another 5k; quite the opposite actually. I am in taper mode for two upcoming half marathons so my schedule is quite packed as it is and I truly don't need to add to the workload at this point. However, I accepted to participate and run it because I believe its cause is very important.

I am joining BibRave, Represent Running, and thousands of runners like myself from all over the world on this cause as a way to raise awareness and funds for the American Refugee Committee (ARC).

The ARC is an international humanitarian organization working to create the conditions for refugees and displaced people to build full, meaningful lives. Lives worthy of them. Lives which, just like yours and mine, need joy, connection and purpose. The ARC has a presence in more than a dozen countries around the world, providing health care, clean water, shelter, and other essential services to literally millions of people who desperately need them. You can learn more about American Refugee Committee at: www.ARCrelief.org.
